Programming: The New Literacy

This author of this article basically enlightens the audience on what is the term literacy and its transformation in definition through out the years. With that there explaining how programming will take over as the new definition or would be added along with the written and spoken language of being literate. The tone of the author sounded like they were experienced in the topic and maybe was an athoritive figure in the field to explain the extent of how programming is changing the functions of communication and language throught personal use, work and school. Also there is like an ergency to go and find out more because the author said to do it and if you don't then you'll be left. There wasn't really a lot of media used to help emphasize the topic, that being since it was on technology there's so much more that could have been added. Like as he went from defining the term into giving examples of what programming is, to how it used in everyday life, how the younger generation munipulates it and learns the trades at a very young age and how the older generation depend heavily on the younger one and can be at a disadvantage now in cost but that same generation will increase the business' or society's advantages as well, "But as today's kids grow up and become tomorrow's educated adults, most will go much further."

Overall if I were to write on a topic as such, I would definitely add in more media such as pictures to depict the actual functions that I would explain programming has on society and the business world on a whole. I wouldn't give it such a demanding tone or ergency to go and do it or be sorry, but more like go and research yourself and have fun with it and embrace the change as it is our future and add in some experiences as well. Not just being a long old blog that by just glancing seems so long and boring.

Digital Rhetoric

Digital Rhetoric

This article is discussing and informing the audience on digital distribution on media networks, such as video files and video images that affect politics and because of the repercussions, the controls put in place. I’m not too much of a political fan because of its deceptive ways but the point was made across to show that media does make a difference in the outcome of whom is elected to be put in office by their not so patriotic behaviors. The media of choice was making the article into a video made of different pictures and sound files and mini videos combined into one which gave it that visual effect that made you want to read it more than one time. The audience was targeted towards a political crowd and again, heavy research was done to obtain majority of its resources. I don’t think I would want to change it because seeing all the different forms of media combined into a video gives the audience a better idea as to realize the point and why the digital rhetoric affects politics

Why Gen Y is Going to Change the Web?

Why Gen Y is Going to Change the Web?

The article talks about technology and how it has advanced through its usage by Generation Y. Basically informing those who are not “digital natives” or those prior generations who are not highly dependent on something such as social networking to complete a task, which is becoming the start of a new era. It’s affecting the advertising markets, businesses and labels or whomever trying to appeal to the generation Y market to keep up sales. As exemplified, print is something that is suffering from this technology forward as stated, "They read the news, but not in newspaper format, which is going to hurt that industry even more as time goes by." By the use of pictures and video clips the author makes her point across explaining to the “digital immigrants” that through observations and more so research from other sources and articles concludes their outlook of Generation Y’s behavior.
If I were to write on this topic, being that I am what would be called a “Digital Native”, I would probably include some of my personal experiences and how they were at advantages and disadvantages. Other than that she was pretty on track with the media used and tone presented, which was not too serious but funny depending on your sense of humor. The text could have been a little bigger and maybe in a different color, like I said I like to experiment, so maybe I could attract an audience of my own age.

About Me

Hi Everyone! My name is Adrianna Soverall. I'm a communications major, primarily focused on public relations and hoping to get a minor in journalism. I'm still a little unsure of if I want to stay there but right now I'm satisifed with that. This is not my first time in being introduced to blogging in an Enlgish class. It's more like a continuation for me because this was the focus in my English 104 class. I'm looking forward to this again because that experience was just awesome!
